Judy K. Miller was born March 4, 1950, in Paris, Texas. Her family moved to Fort Worth when she was six years old. She considers her mother to be the most influential person to her as a child due to the values she instilled in her and her four siblings while they attended school.

 

Miller credits her mother for teaching her early in life that if you can't say something nice, then don’t say anything at all. This served her well throughout her years. She believed that no matter what you choose as your vocation, you must do it well. Her brother, David, played an influential role in her life, and she wanted to emulate him. James Coble, her first principal she worked for, and Ira Campsey were encouraging influences that helped convince her to go into administration.

 

Miller attended Texas Woman’s University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. She obtained a Master of Science in Education (1974) and Administrative Certificate (1982) from North Texas State University.

 

Miller retired in 2009 as the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel following 37 years of dedicated service with the Mansfield ISD that included being a teacher, principal, and central office administrator.

 

Miller recalled the positive influence of her sixth-grade teacher, Mr. Black, who believed children had unlimited potential.

 

Judy K. Miller Elementary School was dedicated August 25, 2013. The school served first as the Host Campus during the Elementary Campus replacements for J.L. Boren, Glenn Harmon, and Charlotte Anderson.
